After returning recently from several performances and TV appearances in the Gambia, West Africa, where he was given a hero’s welcome, Jamaican-born, New Jersey-based dancehall DJ Ras Emmanuel has dropped an explosive new single, “Jah My Provider.”
On Tuesday, the award-winning Emmanuel told Caribbean Life that the new single is a collaboration with Kingston, Jamaica-based DJ Little Robert. The song speaks to “a steadfast reliance on Jah’s support and mercy to navigate some of life’s difficult hurdles.
He said the new single follows his 2024 resounding smash, “Dancehall Forever.”
Ras Emmanuel said a remixed version of the song was played at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert on New Year’s Eve in Kingston.
“I am just as excited about this new release as I am about ‘Dancehall Forever,'” he said. “The theme of this song is universal, and it immediately captures the consciousness of the listener.
“Everyone has their own problems to face in life, and this song brings hope and strength through Jah to confront and overcome the daily battles of levity,“ he added. “I wrote these lyrics because of some of the personal journeys that I myself have been through.“
“Jah My Provider,“ produced by Nasir Gowdie and Imark Productions, is on the Central Village Voice label.
Ras Emmanuel said he is not surprised by the “tremendously positive response“ to the new release, stating that, after testing it in Africa, he received “only green lights.”
“A number of radio stations, including Roadblock Radio, Richie B Radio and Best FM, have already added the new joint to their playlists,“ he said.
“Jah My Provider“ is available on all major music platforms, including Spotify.
