Persaud hosts annual Pre-Mother’s Day Celebration for families

State Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud hosted her annual Pre-Mother’s Day “Distribution & More” event on Saturday, May 10. The event brought together families of new moms, expecting moms, and community matriarchs for a day of celebration and support.

Held in partnership with Kings Plaza Shopping Center, Ashley Stewart, JCPenney, and other generous community organizations, Persaud said the event offered registered attendees the opportunity to select a complete outfit, shoes, or jewelry—just in time for Mother’s Day.

Additional essential items, including adult and baby diapers, were also distributed.

“The festive atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and connection, as attendees enjoyed refreshments and received snack and gift bags,” said the Guyanese-born Persaud, representing the 19th Senate District in Brooklyn.

“A highlight of the day included a raffle drawing for three prize baskets, which will be delivered to the winners,” she added.

Persaud extended her heartfelt thanks to the event’s community partners: Kings Plaza Shopping Center, Ashley Stewart, JCPenney, Agape Community Development Corp, Expecting Relief, Millennium Development, Rainbow Shops, and the Jewish Community Council of Canarsie.

“This event is a special way to honor the amazing women who nurture our families and communities every day,” she said. “We’re grateful to our partners for helping us make this celebration meaningful and memorable.”
