Swimmer Dylan Carter did not have much improvement in the pool on day three of the World Aquatic Swimming World Cup, following an overall under-par ninth-place finish in the 50-metre backstroke and 100-metre freestyle events recently, which entered its second leg at the Munhak Park Tae-Hwan Swimming Pool in Incheon, Korea.

Competing in lane five, for yet another time, the 28-year-old, delivered a time of 22.84-second in the 50-metre butterfly event which proved insufficient to get him past the heats stage.

With his time, Carter had to settle for the fourth-place finish in the heat, which saw only two swimmers earning qualifying berths to the final, which included Tzen Wei Teong of Singapore and hometown favourite Yuchan Ji.

The Singaporean, competing out of lane four, was the first to touch the wall at the finish line, pedalling off from a 0.57 seconds reaction time for a lead that saw him stop the clock at 22.64 seconds for the fastest qualifying time in the race.

He was followed in the second position by Yuchan Ji, qualified for the other spot for a final berth in 22.66 seconds. Russian Andrei Minakov clinched the third-place finish by posting 22.77 seconds.

Carter received a total of 863 points after his reaction time of 0.62 seconds put him outside of the qualifiers.
